Katie is recognized for her work in building communities through the expressive power of the arts and the revitalization of culture. Her first major event was the production of a Yukon First Nations Tradeshow & Cultural Expo called the Gathering of Northern Nations during the 2007 Canada Winter Games. This gathering inspired subsequent events including the First Nations Arts Festival in 2008 and the Yukon First Nations 2010 Showcase at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games including 70 performing and visual artists, youth and elders. The legacy of pride and talent from those events is realized in the annual Adäka Cultural Festival, a multi-faceted cultural gathering of First Nations artists and communities held each summer in Whitehorse, Yukon.
Katie has also managed other events and projects including conferences, workshops, forums, show productions, tradeshows, artisan markets and familiarization tours for a wide variety of organizations.
